Now in its fifth year, ASGE’s International Program at DDW® 2018 will feature six joint symposia with international organizations representing gastroenterologists from Korea, Mexico, Latin America, India, Japan and Brazil.
“These sessions offer great opportunities to meet with our colleagues from around the world to network, share best practices and learn the most up-to-date results of research going on across the globe,” said ASGE International Committee Chair Prasad G. Iyer, MD, MS, FASGE, professor of medicine in gastroenterology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.
Five of this year’s joint symposia will be held concurrently on Saturday morning, June 2. Representatives from the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (SGEI) will join ASGE members for a discussion on recent advances in therapeutic endoscopy. A joint session with the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (JGES) will explore emerging challenges in endoscopic imaging from U.S. and Japanese perspectives.
Saturday morning’s program also includes combined sessions with the Asociación Mexicana de Endoscopia Gastrointestinal (AMEG), Korean Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (KSGE) and Sociedad Interamericana de Endoscopia Digestiva (SIED).
The final joint symposium in this year’s ASGE International Program will take place on Tuesday, June 5, when ASGE welcomes colleagues from the Sociedade Brasileira de Endoscopia Digestiva (SOBED) for the always-popular “Best of ASGE DDW En Español” session, which will feature gastroenterology experts from Spanish-speaking countries who will summarize, in Spanish, some of the most important findings presented over the course of the meeting.
“These symposia not only offer great educational opportunities for our international members, but also give all DDW attendees the chance to hear from world-renowned experts about the hottest science and the most important clinical advances from around the world,” Dr. Iyer said.
